Zacchaeus was a wee
little man,
And a wee little man
was he
He climbed up in a
sycamore tree,
For the Lord he wanted
to see
Then Jesus said,
"Zacchaeus, you come down,
For I'm coming to your
house today,
For I'm coming to your
house today!"
Does anyone remember
singing this as a child? I do and I loved all those songs as a kid,
especially the flannel board where pictures were given of the Bible. Love
those pictures - and it's the Spirit of God who does give us pictures that we
might grasp the concepts of Truth.
When God saved us, we
were saved by Him, not of ourselves. We all agree with this, don't
we? And yet after salvation, we go about saving ourselves to the
uttermost when He started it. He said He'll finish it.
Truth is, we are
"wee little men." God's work in us is to keep us "wee
little men," and climb the heights of this present world in order to
"see Jesus Christ in WHOM we believe and have been given life by and
through Him alone."
What happens is that
we stay in the crowd of people - the crowd of the world's clamor, distractions,
crowd of Christian dissensions, factions, ideas, arguments, debates, etc.
What do we do?
Climb the tree.
And pray, "Lord,
let me see Your Son with the eyes of my heart."
God has already called
us to be seated with His Son in the heavenly places. He has given us His
Holy Spirit to teach us, show us, guide us, reveal the things FREELY given to
us in His Son. The only way it is going to sink in and become real to the
heart is to stay "wee, wee!"
God resists the proud
but gives grace to the humble.
He will continually
show us as we truly stay meek, teachable - flexible in our willingness to let
go of what we think we know in order that we may TRULY KNOW.
God's truth brings joy
and peace, life and peace in and through His Holy Spirit and God's Word of
Life. He says so.
What a glorious thing
to take His road and find the pearl of great price, which He offers all of us
by invitation.
