The blessing
of the Gospel is about believing God's Word.
We either believe in His blood or we do not. We either believe that when we received not
only the message of our salvation, but also HIM through God's Gift of the Holy
Spirit or we do not.
There's more
though. God opened the revelation of His
Son to especially Paul, the Apostle.
What did He reveal? That God's
Son is the New Man, the New Creation of God - Adam had to be crucified and
Jesus became the Lamb to do so.
Old things
really are passed away. But we are not
going to get that information by sight.
Every day we hear about murders, fightings, wars, domestic violence,
abortions, sins of all degrees. By
sight, it does not look like anything old has passed away.
But we are
not people who walk by sight. We are
faith people. We walk by Truth. God's Spirit in us gives witness to our
spirits that we are in the Kingdom of the Son of God's love. We are free from sin's power and
dominion. We are in Christ. We have His Holy Spirit. We are being guided, because we are now SONS
of the living God. We are waiting for
God's Son. We will receive immortal
bodies like that of our Lord's. We are
forgiven. We have obtained an
inheritance in Christ - we are joint-heirs with Him. He is in charge of the total inheritance, but
we are under Him. We are beloved of God
- called His children, His saints, His people.
The list
goes on and on. There is only one thing
to me that is lacking in people I see and talk with sometimes. Faith.
Believing God. This is the cure
and hope we have - is to keep our eyes on Jesus Christ and what God has
revealed.
So I think
the minute we trail off onto arguments of different sorts, we curtail joy and
peace in believing - we put the "kink in the hose," so to speak. We quench God's Spirit WHO Himself is joy,
life, and peace.
We all know
there are LOTS of problems on this earth.
There are LOTS of problems with flesh and blood. Yet we can learn from the Lord HOW to walk in
His Spirit and keep our eyes off flesh and find His supernatural peace in this
fallen world. I mean He did say,
"My peace I give to you, not as the world gives..."
It really is
an individual thing to stomp out "forest fires." Brings back a memory of Yogi Bear saying,
"You can help to prevent forest fires..."
Fires of all
sorts. Let's see - that sounds like
something out of the Bible:
"Holding up the shield up faith whereby you are able to quench the fiery
darts of the evil one..."
We have SO
much to praise and worship God over - it's not hard. It just takes our focus back to believing
God's Word and rejoicing in the spirit.
Rejoicing
with you,
Sue Gaither
