I remember
years ago asking God to show me the true Jesus Christ. This was after the uprising of so many
"teachers and preachers" on the radio and television. So many things being said - so much, so
much. God has called us to test all
things - whether they be so.
My real
journey began through humbling my heart before the Living God and His Son,
Jesus Christ. This is the way to stay
free of error, false doctrines, teachers and all deception - all the time.
"That they may know Thee, the only TRUE God
and Jesus Christ, Whom You have sent."
John 17:3
EXALT the
Lord JESUS CHRIST in our hearts as WHO HE is:
The Lord. He loves us so.
Our Lord
Jesus said this: "I AM the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE."
In our
leaning entirely upon Him and not becoming independent in our own minds, God
tells us we can know the things that are true.
He also tells us God has NO part in any lie. I John
2:27
This is
comforting - He just says, "Trust Me - I can do this."
One of the
rampant things in this world now and it's all over the internet is to not call sin
what it is: SIN. We have all kinds of different flavors for it
now and one can choose chocolate, vanilla, strawberry - whatever suits your
fancy.
Well why do
I need to do this? That is, call sin
what it is.
Is it important? Yes! And it is the key to true freedom! Why?
Because Satan lurks behind the power of sin - his goal is to keep
everyone in bondage! Anything of a lie
is bondage!
Anything of the
TRUTH though is FREEDOM! Jesus said,
"You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall SET YOU FREE!" And Jesus Christ wants us FREE!
So, if I
don't understand I am bound, I am certainly not walking in freedom in Christ. If I know that I am bound, I can run to Jesus
Christ - the Power over all flesh, sin and the devil.
So, did
anyone hear any condemnation in that? Of
course not! If a monster is coming at me
and you tell me to "RUN!" I know
you love me. Sin is a monster. Jesus Christ is our Savior.
Walking with
Jesus Christ - the living One is the key.
Nothing else. God talks to me
through His Word - He convinces my heart by His Spirit in the Word of Truth and
Life. His goal is to keep us from the
power of all evil - He can do this all the time.
God's grace
is indeed overwhelmingly good. Grace is
NOT sin. Christ and Sin are not together
in the same sentence, the same anything.
Remember, Mr. Sin is a power seeking to be personified in us. The whole fall is rooted in Satan - the new
creation is solely rooted in Christ Jesus!
II Corinthians 5:17
"Have the roots of your being
firmly and deeply planted in HIM - fixed and founded in Him, becoming
increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were
taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving." Colossians 2:7
So, Romans 6
and 7 teaches that SIN is a power - a force of death - it is operative in the
members of the body that could yield to sin.
Sin and Satan are indeed, in this world.
Christ is God's grace to us - we do not live and move apart from
HIM.
Therefore we
are taught by God to RECKON ourselves dead to sin and its power AND ALIVE to
Christ Jesus. This is HOW we do it: RECKON - CONSIDER yourself... We do this by faith and walking with
Jesus. Sounds simple because it is
simple. We are walking with the Living
Person of God: Jesus Christ.
A very
deceptive lie is this - that there is some in between to Grace and Sin. That is the devil's lie. I either am totally dependent on Jesus Christ
as Life from Sin, OR I am held captive to sin.
There is no in between or middle ground. Not a statement of condemnation - just a
reminder that this is God's roadmap of life in Jesus.
"Faith
is evidence!" We shall indeed bear
fruit, just as He said - because we are LOOKING to JESUS! What a wonderful Gospel, Savior and Lord!
Trusting Him
alone,
Sue Gaither
