Until then, here are some thoughts as a result of reading I Corinthians 1 and 2:
"For
I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing), to make a display
of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among
you..." I Corinthians 2:2
What if we all showed up where we gather together as
believers this Sunday, and the preacher stood up and said:
"Good morning, today I want to talk about nothing
- that is because I am acquainted with nothing, I have resolved to know
nothing, and want to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and that I am
conscious of nothing..."
Well there might be a few snickers (not the candy bar
either) - until he continued on (which is why I left that part of the Scripture
off until now) when he said:
"EXCEPT
Jesus Christ...and HIM crucified!"
Now ears should be perked up and eager to hear the rest
of the story...
In reading I Corinthians 1 and 2 again this morning,
there is one thing that is stressed deeply by Paul, the Apostle appointed by
the will of God.
And that is the knowledge and wisdom of this world is
not the way God works. He works by and
through the Spirit of God REVEALING Christ to our hearts. To do so is to understand His cross, to
understand the power of His divine life and grace through Christ, to have faith
resting in Him and not the "wisdom" of this world.
We all are called to "Know the only true God and Jesus Christ Whom He has
sent." John 17:3
God can take the worst soul considered by men (I
Corinthians 1:25-29) and bring about the glory of Jesus in them.
All it takes is for any soul to be willing to empty our
heads and hearts of our own ideas of God
and be willing to be taught by Him (becoming child-like) regarding all Who
Christ Jesus is for us, to us, and now through us.
I vote for more sermons about Jesus Christ and Him
crucified and all this means for us, to us, and yes, through us!
So if you get an opportunity today, reread I
Corinthians 1 and 2 - especially in the Amplified version!
AMEN!
