As believers, I do not think we often think deeply along
with God’s Spirit, who has been given into our hearts. This is one of His purposes to be there – to
reveal the things of God and as written, “the deep things of God.” I Corinthians 2:10 “But
God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all
things, yea, the deep things of God.”
To me, one of the purposes for us to think deeply is, to
simply have impact on my walk, realizing the powerful provision God has given
to us. For the Son of God dwells in us
by His Holy Spirit – ALL because of Christ’s cross, His resurrection and
finished work that we call Salvation.
If we get a hold of the fact that we were dead – I mean dead
in trespasses and sins like ALL the other people who existed in every
generation AND that the only way we were made alive was through the Life of the
Son of God coming into us; maybe we should follow that trail of Truth more
deeply.
The Scriptures are very clear in Romans 5 that Adam was the man who brought sin and death to all men because of his disobedience. It cost him the life of God. He needed to be saved by God Himself. And God at that time, made provision as we read in Genesis.
Well Christ is the Second and Last Adam as He is called WHO
is the NEW MAN, the NEW creation of God.
It is indeed through HIM and Him alone that I have the life of God –
eternally.
This has happened by God’s Spirit coming into my once upon a
time dead spirit, but now quickened by Him, only because I believed and
received Christ, the Resurrected One. He
is the Federal Head of the new creation – we are His body.
So I said all that to simply say, when I think about all of
this more deeply, I get really moved over the fact of WHO it is who moved in my
heart.
When Jesus Christ was here in the flesh He had a
conversation with the Pharisees found in John 8. They were looking at Jesus through the lenses
of carnality and deception – not believing at all that He was sent by God and
is indeed the Messiah. Today we have to
be careful too that we do not see God or His Truth through the lenses of a
carnal mind, but continually be TAUGHT by the Spirit of Truth.
Powerfully Jesus Christ says to them, “Before Abraham, I
AM!”
When I think about this – that God has always existed and
His Son – that He is WHO HE IS – unchangeable and how we have HIM dwelling in
us, it’s more than a human can put in words.
Another way we could say as we are abiding in Christ and it
would be true, is that we are Abiding in the “I AM.” God is present tense, regardless of time.
This should fill us daily with incredible hope just even for
the day. Who He is? The Word of God over and over again according
to the new way of living God erected through Christ Jesus is about life, fruit,
glory, peace, acceptance in the Beloved, forgiveness, hope of future especially
eternally, provision, wisdom, riches of His grace upon grace.
Today may God truly enable us by the power of His Spirit to
think deeply upon the truths of His Son and all that He has done through Him.
By doing so, we shake ourselves out of doldrums,
religiosity, arguments, unbelief, carnality, etc.
See if faith does not arise by looking at Jesus Himself
through His Word guided by His Holy Spirit in us.
In Christ alone,
Sue
Gaither
