“For this cause, I bow my
knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in
heaven and earth are named, that he would grant you according to the riches of
His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man…” Ephesians 3:14 – 16
As I
look back on my life, I realize that I am/was a “ponderer.” So are you.
It’s just to what extent we really do consider things deeply or with
great consideration.
God
calls us to have His Word dwell in us richly.
And in order for God’s truth to be assimilated correctly in us, we have
to ponder all things, asking for God’s Spirit to give us spiritual wisdom and
enlightenment on all spiritual realities.
To
ponder: think about
(something) carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a
conclusion. To think about, contemplate, consider, review, reflect, mull over,
meditate on, deliberate about, cogitate on, dwell on, brood on, ruminate on,
chew over, puzzle over, turn over in one’s mind.
Please ponder this definition.
J
Laboring
to truly honestly and sincerely KNOW Truth is not easy in many ways. Oh, it is easy to receive insights from God,
because they are FREELY given to us by Him.
Where the fight comes is HOLDING onto God’s Word. Perhaps it’s even about finishing or coming
to a full conclusion of truth, without the devil “stealing” it away from our
thoughts and desires to do so.
The
devil really does fight to keep spiritual realities unclear or maybe keep us in
a lazy state through distractions, so that we do not pursue it, until it bears
fruit in our lives.
We
all know this is true.
Paul
had a determined purpose/goal: “To know HIM and the power of His
resurrection.” He says he pressed
toward the mark for the PRIZE of the HIGH CALLING of God in Christ Jesus.
If we
really press, it denotes there is no being casual about God’s Gospel, Truth,
His Son, all those great rich realities of grace and glory.
The
thing that is the most beautiful to me is that God has given us His Holy
Spirit. According to the opening
Scripture we can pray and ask God to strengthen us with MIGHT by His Spirit in
our inner man where Christ is dwelling through faith.
This
will keep us from being casual – AND enable us to be good ponderers of God’s
Truth – weighing things, until they become clear and finite.
Here
are some things to consider then, if we are going to be “hot” for God:
First and
foremost: Make our election/salvation
SURE, CLEAR, DISTINCT, FINITE, FIXED in us with all the spiritual wisdom and
understanding God freely wants to give us.
BE
DETERMINED that understanding God’s Word, His Gospel in and through Christ
Jesus, is to be realized in FULLNESS.
Consider
fellowship with our Living God, the Father of spirits, AND His Son, the Lord
Jesus Christ the most TREASURED daily purpose of our lives. In doing so, all the things that happen in a
day can be led by His Spirit, because we are abiding in Him moment by moment
and talking with Him.
Oh I
am convinced that we can “shore up,” and that we can get through any and all
distractions, disappointments, trials, tragedies, and find God’s fullness of
His Word and Spirit, if we want to. J
So in
closing, back to the beginning Scripture:
We are to be strengthened with might by God’s Spirit in our hearts/inner
man. This is HOW we are going to PUSH
through to God’s Goal for all of our lives:
To KNOW HIM.
It is
not by flesh and blood’s ability then, but by God’s Precious Holy Spirit in you
and in me.
Pressing
for the Prize of Him,
Sue Gaither
