Oh, to think upon the grace of God in the face
of Jesus Christ is a never ending privilege. We can feed upon Him all day long
- no matter what comes our way, no matter what.
So yesterday, in the midst of this and that, I was
thinking. And following will be some of
those thoughts. The glorious Holy Spirit
is there to bring up His Scriptures, His teaching - whether it be the first
glimpse or the continual reinforcement of His Truth in our hearts.
To me, this is the reality of renewing our minds in
and through Him. And each time He does
"reinforce" the Word in us, we can join the line in the hymn from
"Leaning On The Everlasting Arms," which is: "Oh how sweet the path grows from day to
day..."
If Christ is in us, our Hope of Glory - the Glory of
God LIVES in us. The glory of God is
working out through us and in our lives, walk, and talk.
He gave me this precious thought yesterday. We sometimes think that renewal of the mind and
even when we talk about "Abiding in Christ," means that we might
start thinking (or others might think we think this) "we've arrived,"
or are reaching "perfection."
Oh but not so.
To reach a place where we really are realizing the deep and glorious
meaning and privilege of abiding in the Son of God each day AND having this
blessed renewal of the mind is FAR from thinking we are perfect on this side of
heaven.
No, I truly believe it means (and is for me) the
increase and hope of the fullness of Joy in Jesus Christ. Why?
Because the dear Holy Spirit of God shows us so
completely and enriches the reality that it is indeed, the Christ in us WHO is PERFECT
and we can truly rest in Him, His ability, His desire to work and bear fruit in
us and through us. To me this is REST
and JOY!
And the other thing, how can HE not be
faithful? We'll NEVER find Him not
faithful, willing, or true to God's Word.
His Word does indeed tell us that He is the Newness of Life, and HIS
life in us bears fruit by His indwelling Holy Spirit.
The other thought was about fellowship with Him each
day. What is your definition of
fellowship with the Living Lord and God as your Father?
Well it used to be for me, show up each day and hear
about your imperfections and the corrections you need. To me this is why people hide from God, stay
distant, or outwardly start "trying" to give an appearance of
righteousness. So to pray, to have a
quiet time with Him is "scary," because it possibly might mean that
to be in the light He's getting the list out.
"Yea, you dirtball - you messed up again!"
Not saying we do not need correction every day of
our lives - but how many of us really, truly know the deep fellowship God
offers with us as Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The deep fellowship that is so deep in the
love of God, we will find ourselves transformed almost without effort. All because we're really seeing Jesus Christ
Himself and exactly what God Himself wants to teach us about Him and the work
He did at the cross.
We have to remember:
God is SATISFIED with His Son on every point. And His Son lives in us through and by the
GIFT of God. This is salvation and this
is grace.
God offers such a precious grace to us to drink in
His Word, His Truth, His Presence, His Righteousness, His communion and
fellowship by the Holy Spirit revealing His Word to us each and every day.
We just need
to be reminded continually. There is no
one like Him - no one on this planet.
Can't believe He died for us and gave Himself so completely to save us.
He did this because of His great Love - so why
wouldn't He be also willing to save us to the uttermost by that same intense
Love! And why would we not want to
fellowship with Him?
Oh glorious Savior - rejoice today Beloved - this is
what He calls us.
We're His!
In His Love,
Sue Gaither
