"Rooted
and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught,
abounding therein with thanksgiving."
Colossians 2:7
"Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace
in your hearts to the Lord."
Colossians 3:16
Years ago I heard someone say something like this
- that he didn't know how far man fell until he started the climb back up.
Fortunately, it's not that we are climbing to be
something although it kind of feels that way.
According to the Scriptures, it's about HIM having come in us and He is
working Himself out through us!
For me personally, there are some lies that went
to the core of my being and seems like it took A LONG TIME for the Word of Life
to take root in me. But I have found out
and am continuing to discover that the Word of Life getting down to the very
core of our being (God's work of faith in us), brings powerful, permanent transformation
to our walks.
If God has already changed us in spirit and we are
indeed in union with God's Spirit, then it truly makes sense to me that it is
HIS LIFE, His Word and His Son by His Spirit, working and growing in me. But I grew up with the idea of striving to
become something, instead of believing through God's Word. Conduct and behaviors that we desire truly
come through the faith of the Son of God - not outward striving of flesh and
blood.
Thank God for Romans that shares with us we are
free indeed from who and what we were in spirit (dead) to now being new
creatures in Christ - alive in Him. We
may not walk free because of faulty beliefs (or rather unbelief), but as we
stay in His Word, stay with our Teacher God's Holy Spirit, and continue to
trust Him, HE WILL guide us, establish us, perfect us, settle us, strengthen
us, and continually fill us with greater joy and peace in believing.
Listen to these two wonderful Words from Him:
"Now
the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may
abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13
"But
the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ
Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish,
strengthen, settle [you]. I Peter 5:10
Even in nature, a tree or plant not rooted is a
tree or plant that eventually topples.
Jesus Christ is our ROOT! And by allowing Him to be who He is within us
(LIFE), we shall bear fruit.
Simple but true.
"Lord, have your way in us - let us not
frustrate the true grace of God - let us fully look into the marvelous,
wonderful, matchless face of Jesus Christ and as your word declares - we shall
be transformed from glory to glory by the Spirit who dwells within. May we believe the TRUTH."
