What if you
could not see a hope in your future getting out of the desert like a distant
town – but only a mirage that appears real.
And what if
you were in the desert by yourself – alone – no friend to encourage you, nothing
but a dry and thirsty land?
God describes
this in Isaiah 35. But what He describes
as His provision is beyond glorious.
“And
the burning sand and the mirage shall become a pool (a real one), and the
thirsty ground springs of water; in the haunt of jackals, where they lay
resting, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
And a highway shall be there; and it shall be called the Holy Way. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it
shall be for the redeemed; the wayfaring men, yes, the simple ones and fools,
shall not err in it and lose their way.”
In our walk
with God, He purposes for each one to discover that our clay jars in and of
themselves cannot produce one ounce of water.
As a matter of fact, God is getting glory when we finally learn that the
flesh is producing nothing, but dry land (product) and no hope of glory!
Yet what a
glory when we learn Christ in us, our hope of glory! “The
wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert and blossom like the rose
and the autumn crocus. It shall blossom
abundantly and rejoice even with joy and singing.”
When
Christ Himself becomes our all, then we discover His all!
God graciously
knocks all the props out from our lives so that we recognize that we are blind
and deaf to His Holy Way. And when God
opens our eyes and ears to the Son of God and Son of Man, “the waters shall break forth in the wilderness and streams in the
desert.”
Can a soul
bring himself to this place by himself?
Don’t think so. God is at work in
us both to will and to do of His good pleasure – this is so NO man would glory
in His presence except only in Christ Jesus.
He is not only our Savior, but the WHOLE of God in and through us both
now and forevermore.
When God
becomes all we need, we discover WHO is He indeed - and that through His Son in
us, Christ Jesus. We get to discover His
full provision – not “trying” to obtain it ourselves by our own means – but
through Him, who “fills all in all!”
Another thing
I’ve discovered about the Lord – He does not want my help. He wants helpless little children who trust
Him as their all and all; and, know without a shadow of a doubt, without His
Life working in us, all God will get is a mess and a not so hot production!
Oh, we can
dress us our production for others – but who wants that? Let’s have the TRUE Christ living powerfully
in and through us – then our joy shall be full because we shall be knowing Him
and the reality of His abundant life (rivers of living waters) flowing through
clay, dry, dusty pots (jars!)
Oh what a
blessing, when there is nothing but Jesus to look for! Oh what a blessing, when it is Jesus Himself
whom God lets us see – oh what a blessing, when God has His way with us in
every way!
