Some Reminders

"Beloved, I now write to you...which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder..."  II Peter 3:1

Here are some reminders today to ponder and to enjoy:

1)   The Holy Spirit in us is a Person – not an invisible power that came to help us get work done.  He came within to show us the Living Risen Lord Jesus Christ and by His ability (which is the power of God) to shape us into the Son and the Son be shaped in us.

2)   God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, gave us His embrace for all eternity.  We are no longer condemned to the “gallows,” only God’s beloved children.

3)   God is working by the Teacher within us, to Teach us Christ within our hearts – not some “noble” ability of our fleshly efforts to appear holy.  God is able to do this without our feeble help by our simply trusting in Him, gazing at Christ, and learning Him.

4)   God’s Word is food, love, personal intimacy, and glory written to reveal to our hearts, the inheritance of the saints in Christ Jesus.  God’s Word is not a hammer to beat us to a pulp thereby accomplishing nothing in our lives.  We’ve often misunderstood God, His Ways, and the magnitude of Christ’s cross for us, to us, and in us.

5)   We are not in charge of anything – although we sometimes think we are.  No one can change anyone’s heart, shape them into the “right” kind of people – no one can even do that for themselves – only “fool” themselves for a while.  This is why God is thrilled when we “lay ourselves” on His altar as a living sacrifice, trusting in Him to do every bit of work in us, for us, to us, and through us!  It is by Grace we are saved, by grace we are transformed, by grace we are.

6)   The joy comes as RIVERS of LIVING WATERS ONLY when the heart truly SEES Jesus Christ.  And the Holy Spirit is happy to show us Him.  “If the eye is single, the whole body is filled with light.”

7)   Though man has his opinions, even among the brethren, the only place to fall is at the feet of Jesus Christ, having His mind alone – He says this:  “The Mind of the Spirit is LIFE and PEACE,” and I will also add “FREEDOM.”

“Heavenly Father, thank you for life in YOUR SON.  Thank you we are not ball and chained to the Law – the commandments that slay us by our feeble efforts – but we are in UNION with the Life of Jesus Christ – our Hope of Glory.  Thank you, as we receive, trust, glory in, learn of, exalt in, and gaze into the face of Jesus, we ARE transformed by Him – the Law of the Spirit of Life in Jesus Christ.  God, cause us to understand spiritually and with all wisdom the realities of Him and to walk by the Spirit of Him, until we see you!  Thank you, WE CAN TRUST YOU and YOU ALONE!  Amen and Amen.”
